Sunburst 2 Year Old Classroom
The Sunburst classroom serves young toddlers ages 24–36 months. Teachers plan a variety of individual and group activities to stimulate your child socially, intellectually, and creatively. The Sunburst classroom curriculum, environment, and experiences are based on the children’s developmental needs and interests.
Daily Activities
The teachers provide a warm, safe, and consistent environment for your child to spend his/her day. Throughout the day, your child will:
- Be offered breakfast, lunch, and a snack.
- Brush their teeth after breakfast.
- Participate in small and large group activities including music and movement activities.
- Play outside for at least an hour daily, weather permitting.
- Rest or nap on cots during Quiet Time.
- Have time for free play of their choice. Activities offered include:
- Playing with fine motor toys.
- Creating art in the art center.
- Reading a book in our library.
- Singing and dancing with music and movement activities.
- Playing with blocks.
- Dramatic play.
Sunburst 2-Year-Old Classroom Lead Teachers
Tina Freesemann
Tina earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Hawkeye Community College and has been teaching at Hawkeye's Child Development Center since 1999.
"I live in Greene with my husband, Collin, and our two children: Haley and Hayden. When I’m not teaching I love bargain shopping, jet skiing on the river, and spending time with my family and friends.

Tracey Schmidt
Tracey earned her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Upper Iowa University and is working towards her CDA in Early Childhood Development. Tracey has been teaching in early childhood education since 1999 and is excited to continue teaching at Hawkeye!
